I.This was only the second year of existence for the Berry soccer team, which had finished as runner-up to St. Mary’s College of Cnlifornia a year earlier.Courtney, a frcslmtan fullback, scored the winning goal with 31:38 elapsed in the first half. It came off a cornerkick by another Derry freshman, Kelly Brocn. Courtney managed to control the ball, dribble left and shoot back in the opposite direction.Berry had made the finals bv defeating Hard in-Simmons University of Abilene, Tex., 2-0.
