Jlected as All-Ohioregional, according to All-Ohio officials in Columbus. The fleet back picked up nominations from Cincinnati, Toledo, Cleveland, Akron, Columbus, Dayton and Youngstown, to mention a few.The Bobcat back was also an All-East Ohio selection on the Associated Press selections made two weeks ago, but was overlooked when the AP made its final tabulations.Crawford becomes the first Bobcat to make All-Ohio since Jon Rogovtn was named First Team All-Ohio by the Associated Press and Second Team All-Ohio by I'Pl in 1961.He joins Rogovin, Ray Volz, a 1951 selection at fullback; Dick Stewart, 1952 selection at center; Bob “Lefty” Henderson, 1954 selection at center and All-America selection in prep polls, and several others. These selections were made under the old system of classifications — A and B and later AA and A — before the change to three divisions this year.Cambridge High principal Sandford Lyne called Crawford's selection “a real tribute to a fine young man.”“I couldn’t be more proud of the selection,” Lyne said.“l^onard has really done » job for us athletically and provided tremendous leadership as well.”Lyne said special notice of Crawford’s selection would be made at the high school and Fred Andrews, president of the Cambridge Board of Education and long-time athletic booster, announced lie would recommend the board “pay tribute to Leonard” in tome manner soon.Crawford, when notified of the selection, could only thank the players, coaches and fans for their support this past season and said, “This is something that I never suspected would even happen. Without the otherfellows playing as hard as they did. it wouldn’t have happened.”And so Crawford becomes an All-Ohio hack in a state that has S2.1 high schools which participate in football and some 40,000 youngsters who play the game.“Just lo be an honorable mention out of all that gang of athletes is an honor,” Paul said. “Selection as a First Team player means Leonard is one ofthe top 22 football players out. of 40,000 kids. The chances of this happening are mighty long,To that statement there is no argument.
