Tv/o Thousand People Wake Up When Bruisers Use Shooting Irons.New York, Dee. 7.—Two thousand on-lookers at the six day bicycle race in Madison Square Garden were startled today by the report of a pistol shot from behind the tier of boxes. There was a semi-panic and a rush to the scene, and when quiet was restored it was found that two men had started a fight and that in the melee which ensued a man in the crowd had been shot.The wounded man. whose injuries are not serious, is Christopher Brown, otherwise known as “Tug Wilson,” a pugilist. He says he interfered in a fight between the nten and does not know who shot him.Bert Keyes, a prize fighter, formerly of Philadelphia, was taken into custody by the police. lie denies having fired the shot.
