'Greatest Albacore Run' Continues as Local Boats Record Exceptional CatchesBy ANDY ANDERSONIf you happened to be at Pacific Sportfishing Docks when the live bait boats returned from theirdaily trips during the past week, don’t get the mistaken idea that it is mid-July, It’s December all right, just 19 days until Christmas, but the greatest run of albacore ever to hit local waters continues.The 2 a. m. and 3 a. m. boats from the landing have been docking with exceptional takes of the longfim, occass ion ally breaking the 100 mark for the day#Charter boat have been doing well also, as was evidenced Saturday wben six members of the j Long Beach Tuna Club scored with 45 of the scrappers.They are mostly tackle busters,! too, which means that plenty of fish are lost. Many of the lon*;-fins tipped the beam above the 30 lb. mark, with a 42pounder walking off with the jackpot on one of the boats Saturday,* The albacore takes are not providing all of the excitement, however, as the 7 a. m. boat has betn returning with lots of rock ccd,• according to reports.
