UNO faces three teamsOMAHA, Nebr. ... The University of Nebraska at Omaha basketball team, fresh from, an opening night 77-75 win over Wayne State, will meet three opponents in the next seven days starting with a Tuesday night contest at Sioux City against Mor-ningside at 7:30 p.m.The Mavericks return home Saturday night to host Northern Iowa at 8 p.m. following the wrestling tournament, and on Monday night will host Missouri-St. Louis.In Saturday night’s opener, the Mavericks took early leads, only to see the Wildcats come storming back. UNO took an eight point, 31-23 lead with 3:48 left in the first half, but the Wildcats outscored the Mavericks 12-2 to take a 35-33 halftime lead. Seven minutes into the second half, the Mavericks broke a 47-47 tie, and never lost the lead after that. However, Wayne State chopped away at an 11 point 62-51 UNO lead to close within two points. The Wildcats had a chance to tie, but threw the ball away as time ran out.Junior guard Dennis Forrest led all scorers with 21 points, followed by senior forward Bob Grems with 17, freshman center Glen Moberg with 12, sophomore guard Terry Keehan with 11, and sophomore forward Nate McMorris with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Mavericks shot 52 per cent from the field compared with 42 per cent for the visitors, and out-rebounded Wayne State 49-40.Momingside, led by three returning starters from last year’s NAIA tournament team, were impressive in their opener, beating Dakota Wesleyan 91-76. Center Herb McMath at 6-5,230-pounds will be the Chiefs main threat along with 6-5 forward Doug Marx.
