GARMISCH, Germany (Special) — Two-time USAREUR skichampion Steve Dean demonstrated top form in taking the first slalom of the year on theZugspitze Saturday.Dean, out of Garmisch, covered the two runs over the 380-meter, 25-gate expert course in 1 minute, 5.3 seconds, 7.6 seconds aheadof runnerup Sandy Leavitt ofBerchtesgaden. Jack Westford of Garmisch was third in 1:13.5.Sue Fadden of Frankfurt wonthe ladies class in 56,8 while runnerup Lois Dirkse of Garmisch clocked 69.8.
