1Only One Letterman Returns IFor Columbiana Cage SquadThis is the building year for the Columbiana Clippers basketba 11 team. Coach Rich Berryman lost nine of 12 men through graduation from last year’s team which posted a 16-7 record and advanced to the state quarter-finals before los- j ing by five points to Northwestern, the eventual undefeated state Class A champ.Of the three returnees, only one is a letterman. That is 62 junior Ray Baltz.The rest of Berryman’s team will be made up of mostly juniors and sophomores.Rebels Score61-57 WinOver Zipst-Tremendous accuracy at the foul line made the big difference for Bing Newton’s Fairfield-Wat-erford cagers as they began their season with an opening 61-57 win over North Lima last night at home.iThe Rebels made 25 of 37 shots from the foul line while the Zips made nine of 20. North Lima out-scored F-W from the field 24-18 but the winners compensated forBerryman has not yet arrived at a starting five but the following personnel will be high on the list for the starting spots. They are besides Baltz, Jim Bailey, Carlyle Elser, Roger Lutsch, Tom Logan, Gary Perkins, Don Davidson. Rich Harrold, Don Culp, Paul Murphy and Ken Bailey.Baltz and Davidson (both 6-3) are the only men over 6-feet.The Cluppers will open an 18-game schedule at home Dec. 9 against North Lima.
