The youngsters of Delphi were happy on Thanksgiving day. It was their day for football. A crowd of boys sailing under the poetic title of Mur*-Slingers came up from LaFayette and arranged themselves in proper position on the grounds at the fair ground to glare defiance at an equal number of lads from this city who answered to the aesthetic brand of Punchers. The Delphi contingent had pretty much its own way in the contest. Her players were earnest and aggressive and “pushed” their way to victory from the very start. The LaFayette boys appeared discouraged from the start. Along toward the end of the game they recovered their nerve and were about to score when “time” was called and the game came to an end.The Joubnal feels that it ought to compliment the young men who made up the Delphi team on the gentlemanly and courteous treatment they accorded their visitorsfrom LaFayette. Last Thursday the boya took the lads from LaFayette to their homes, regaled them with turkey, with cranberry sauce, escaloped oysters, plum pudding, celery, float and everything else that goes with a holiday lay-out. And the laas from a distance appreciated the hospitality extended and doubtless went home singing the praises of a little city that is the prettiest of all cities along the Wabash and should be as courteous and hospitaole as it is pre‘ty.
