Three of McCormack’s goals came in the second period. He scored two within a minute. Bon and Carl Moffatt each hit for a goal in the same period, and the Jerseys held a commanding €-3 lead when the period ended.The teams played on even terms in the first period, with Carl Moffatt and Don Hebert scoring for their respective clubs. Moffatt’s tally came at 8:43, when he stole the puck from the defense, and beat the goalie from about 1# feet out.Both goalies were great. Ray Ruggieri of Cranston h'ad the busier night, making 28 saves, many of which were sensational. His best came in the second period, when he robbed the speedy McCormack, who broke loose, and fired from point blank range. He was spectacular in stopping two and three man *jT breakaways on various occasions, r thi» Jwsey goalie Bob Chaffee had a great night as well.The Jerseys’ Tom Walker Jlayed standout hockey on de-fense, breaking up drives, and playing the comers as if he owned them. The forechecking and pokechecking by the Jerseys were excellent all the way.Hebert Hits for CranstonHebert was the big scorer for Cranston with three goals and one assist. Playing coach Dick Ernst had a goal and two assists. They and Ruggieri shared the limelight for Cranston.BLU McCullough rapped in aassisted on two more. His prettiest effort came at 8:2t of tho third period, when he slipped through the Cranston detent# and beat Ruggieri cleanly.It was not a one-sided game. The Jerseys simply made few mistakes, and definitely didn't tire.There were four penalties, an indication of clean play.
