About seven o'c lock on AWdnesdav morning, a young man, of the name of Dunn, undertook, for a bet of live sovereigns, to go from the iron-gut**, the west end of St. Paul's Cathedral« to the iilirul School, ^t* (horge's-fields, and return in eighteen minutes, a distance of upwards of three miles and a quarter; which he accomplished one minute and four seconds less than the given time.A considerable feat of pedestrianism was performed at Castle Douglas, Dundee, on Thursday sc’nnighl. A young man,who, we understand, is travelling the country, exhibiting feats of this kind for whatever the spectators are pleased to give him, announced by the (own crier, on the forenoon of that day, that at two o’clock, p.m. he would start at the end of the town, on the highway, and walk eleven miles in tw * hours, going out and returning half a mile. He finished his engagement in one hour fifty ininufes, and spent 4£ minutes in taking a cup of tea at a bouse by the way, and other stoppages; so that he walkedthe eleven miles in one hour and 45£ minutes, which is at therate of miles an hour, A little girl about eleven years of age, belonging to the town, excited as much interest among the spectators as the principal performer. She started with him, and kept up to him for twn rounds, in her clogs; but at the end of the second ran home with them, by which she lost one round; but she again started with him at the commencement of the fourth, and kept by his side till he finished, though often in-cumbered by a crowd of boys, one of whom was sq troublesome that she was obliged to stop and give him battle; but she goon put him to flight, and notwithstanding the interruption, soon made up her ground. 1
