Kent McCormick* senior tackle, was honored as Taft High’s most valuable player al the annual Boosters Club dinner for the Tiger football team Tuesday in the First Baptist Church.Other major awards went to the folio-ving: Randy Wilson, quarterback, most improved; Bill Miller* guard, I op defensive lineman; Steve Bohlen, halfback,top defensive buck; Dale .Murphy, fullback, top offensive back and Mark Crampton, guard, top offensive lineman.Murphy, Chris Burtis and Don Dare were announced ns the captains for 1977.Coach Bob MoskeUi thanked the team for its'etforts .and predicted good seasons ahead if the underclassmen continue to work as they have in the past.He also thanked his coaches including Earl McCormick, Terry Merz, Jack Schulte* Jim Truett, Don Bruck and Jay Fry.The assistant coaches presented awards to the following players;Seniors: Steve Bohlen, Dwight Childs, Mark, Crampton, Terry Hale’ Mike Hendrix, Kent McCormick. John McGuire, Bill Miller, Kerry Onyett* Don Plummer, Tim Smith, Kyle Thomas and Tom Wellinghoff..Juniors: Victor Avery. Alfred Callahan, Chris Burtis, Don Dare, George DeLoach, George Dzakovic, Alan I laid. Brook Johnson. Mark Kowalk, Dale Murphy, Dave Ogden, Eddie Sapp, Doug Sizemore,Doug Spradling* Bob Stanger, Bill Streit and Dwayne Vinson,Sophomores: Rick Bailey, Kevin Beasley, Dan Combs, Paul Combs, Fred Conley, Mike Dandridge, Caleb Davenport, Dave Davidson. Craig Estridge, Jeff Estridge, Dave Haid, Ron Hamme), Mike Hartman, Bob Heflin, Jim Huff.Herbert Hufford, Ken Hurley* Steve Imhoff, Brandon Metcalfe, Keith Mills, Joe Moskelti, Gren Pettit, Dan Reed, Alex Robinson, Scott Scrimizzi, MikeSheard. Terry Spivey, Greg Turner, Dan Vaughnand Randy Wilson.Awards also were given the trainers, Jana Hurd, Lisa Mosketli, Karen Ellis, Joe Lawrence, Benny Rhodes and Darrel Oldhouse, and the managers* John McMillan, Bob Burtis, Jim Staarman, Chris Hale* Dale MeGoldrich and Jimmy Truett.Jacki Feldman presented the cheerleaders and Gail Aumann the Tigerettes.George Jonson was toastmaster. Special recognition was given Mrs.Neil Burtis for making the momcntoes for the players and Chris Jonson, dinner chairman.
