Embleton booted the pigskin to Marlintort's 28 yard line, the ball being run back 5 yards. y On the first play Harden threw Marlin-ton's back for i loss of two yards. A forward pa*s netted a gain and on the first down* “Catfish” Hawkins broke through the lino downing the runner for a loss of 10 yards.The ball cnanged from one team to tho other during the first quarter, practically all of the fighting being In midfield. The period ended with the ball in possession of Naval Ordnance plant on Marlinton's 44-yard line. 'xThe second quarter started with an attempted pass, Embleton to Seaton. McReynolds ripped off a 25-yard gain around right end which placed the ball • deep into Marllnton’s territory- Seaton carried the ball to Mariinton’S 10-yard lino on a nice run. McReynolds lost a yard and Embleton on the next play allowed his ability as a broken field runner, carrying the ball to Marl inton's one and one-half yard line on a pretty play. Embleton dashed through tackle on the next play for the Navy's first touchdown. Embleton failed at goal.The Cannon Makers showed their speed on the kick off to Marlinton. Embieton, with the wind at his back, booted the ball 40-yards and the Marlin-ton man receiving the ball was downed for a loss of a yard on the kick-off. Marlinton was held within tho distance and was forced to kick. Embleton ‘•V fumbled the ball and Marlinton recovered. but was forced to kick again. De-vinney passed badly on the first play, the ball going over Embleton‘s head, but the speedy quarter ran the la!l hack for a gain of a yard, from about 30 yards In his own territory.Held by the fighting high school aggregation, Embleton punted to Marllnton’s lo'yard line. The ball was fumbled and Catfish” Hawkins speeding down on the play scooped up the ball after dribbling it along for a distance and ran over the lino for the second touchdown. Embleton again failed to kick goal, the score standing 12 to 0 in favor of Naval Ordnance.Receiving the kick off ^t the start of the second half Embleton showed rare Strategy in a return punt which went for a gain of 61 yards, putting the ball on Marlinton's 9-yard line. On the first play Bessling punted, the ball going high into the air and was blown back of the goal line by tho stiff wind from the north. Harden fell on the ball, counting tho third touchdown. Embleton failed at goal.After the third touchdown Marlinton showed flashes of form and carried the ball down tho field from kick off deep into the Navy's territory. X. O. P. took the ball, however, when Marlinton's forward pass on the fourth clown was grounded back of the goal line. Embleton booted the ball 50-yards and the quarter ended with the ball in Marl-lnton's territory.Marlinton worked tho hall with'.* striking distance in the fourth and attempted to save a shutout score by a goal from the field. Embleton. on his fourth attempt at goal after touchdown, duplicated his threo previous boots, the ball sailing wide of the cross car.Tho Cannon Makers displayed their best form of the season in the game and qonsiderlng the slippery condition of the field and ball due to the driving rain and wind, also the small number of games played and the limited time the players have for practice, the Cummings machine played creditable ball.Ebleton. Embleton played a splendid game, his generalship and running with the ball being especially good. Mel ley n-olds and Stine showed up well In the backfield and Jarrett also played a good gome in the line. Gum. Harris, H. Yeager and Bessling played the be.M ball for the visiting team.Marlinton was especially adept nt the passing game. Bessling being a passer of marker* ability. Many of his throws were well placed, but were fumbh-d by the receiving players.
