3S-}Wjreit-DEFEATEDBOTH FIRST AND SECOND TEAMS LOST IN SATURDAY NIGHT’S GAMES.HWork of the Lebanon Team Has Nev-cr Been Equalled on Local Floor —Play Vincennes Wednesday.Washington high school’s basketball players met with severe reversesin their Saturday night’s games, both the first and second teams losing through failure to meet superior playing. Plainville took the first game from the second team by the score of 23 to 17. This humiliation wasn’t enough so Lebanon walloped P the first team 45 to 14.Lebanon proved to be the fastest team that has ever been seen on the local floor. The local hoys do not feel chagrined over their defeat, but admit that the better team won. The game was fast and clean and the ability displayed by the up-state boys has never been equaled here before. It was worth the price of admittance to watch the teamwork and basket shooting of the visitors. The excellence of the work of the Lebanon boys probably is due to their coaching. The present coach of the Purdue basketball team has been coaching Lebanon until this year. Their team work was unexcelled and their basket throwing was far superior to anything seen here before. The locals put up a strong defense but were simply outclassed and admit it.D. White, captain, and G. White, two of Lebanon’s players, were on the all-state high school team last year. .Swords starred for Washington, he and Mattingly getting the two most sensational baskets of the game.Wednesday night the Washington team will go to Vincennes for a game with the Vincennes high school and Saturday night they play the Plainville Independents at Plainville.stmrn iriii in rniiemt
