TrojansEighi reluming iettermen form the nucleus of the 1977 Triton College football squad that opened formal practices recently.Tom Crum is beginning his fifth season as Trojan head coach. Under Crum and assistants. Bill Ohlson, Leon Mavity and Mike McKinnon, Triton will be out to reverse last year’s disappointing 2-7 season.“This time we’re prepared to make a P run at the state JUCO (junior college)title,” says Crum.BOB GORDON OF Melrose Park is back with the Trojans. The 6-2, 195-pound Gordon was the leading candidate for theTriton College Footballquarterback spot last fail when he suffered a season-ending injury. The talented sophomore from Holy Cross High School will beaim for state crownchallenged by Joe Cuilota of Schiller Park, an East Leyden product.Crum says both men have the potential to keep the Trojans in the win column this fall.Back from last year’s squad are receiver Tim McShea of Northlake, a sophomore out of West Leyden; Allen Anderson of Maywood, a defensive back (4.6 in the 4(kyard dash) from Proviso East; Pete Ma-rella of Melrose Park from Proviso West, and 6-2, 215-pound offensive tackle Lloyd Mattingley of Elmwood Park.Other familiar faces include Chicago’s Leo O’Dell, a 5-9, 185-pound running back; intimidating Steve Parker, a 6-5, 260-pound defensive tackle from Evanston; Elmhurst’s Louie Paul, a 5-8, 195-pound stong-man from West Le}'den who has bench-pressed 400 pounds; and Tom Spiros of Melrose Park, a running back out of Chicago’s Steinmetz High School.strengthened in 1977 by four hefty freshmen: 6-4, 235-pound Mike Angland from Westchester and Proviso West; 6-1, 215-pound Melvin Jackson out of Proviso East; 6-0, 230-pound Rich Sasso of Northlake and West Leyden; and 6-3,205-pound A!
