CLEVELAND — Medina’s Ponytail entry fought right down to the wire, but they were defeated in the Erieview Invitational Ponytail Tournament championship game by Parma. The score of the title tilt was 14-3.The championship game climaxed a hectic Saturday during which time the Medina squad played two other games. In the morning session, the Mediniansrocked Erieview, 9-4. After a fifteen minute rest session, they came back to spank Broadview, 13-7. Then, after another fifteen minute break, they entered the final game.The Parma squad nearly shutout the Medina team, but taretta Popovic stroked a home run in the final inning with two girls on base. Sue Baker, who also pitched the two earlier contests, wasthe losing pitcher.Three Medina girls were named as valuable players. Ten were selected from the six teams entered in the tournament. Miss Popovic, with batting average of.636, Chris l^imphear with a .539 and Beth Maker with a .500 received awards.Prior to the title round Saturday, the Medina team also destroyed St. Bridget, 21-4, but fell to Erieview, 16-7.
