Cochran......................27•Scratch.A FEW SHORT DRIVES.The Kilbogie Golf club, of Galesburg, will play a match game here next Monday. About a dozen members are expected in the city, and some good playing is also expected.The “Morelelgh” links, at Oquuwka, are about finished, and Mr. Sherwood, the golf Instructor, is very enthusiastic in regard to them, as he says they are about the prettiest nine-hole links he has ever seen.Mrs. red Spencer, of Monmouth, isvisiting in the city, and since her arrival has been a daily visitor to the golf grounds, and is very enthusiastic over the sport.Miss Mallory, of Memphis, leaves for home next week. She will be greatly missed on the links, as she has taken much interest in the game while in Burlington, and has also caused much enthusiasm to spread among many of the other fair players.Nothing more has been said recently in regards to a match among the ladies of the golf club. This should not be allowed to drop, as the fair sex have in the past shown as much enthusiasm as the men, and as a result should have an opportunity of showing their skill at driving and putting.LOST.
