HARD FAST BALL BY BRAINERD TOO MUCH FOR DAVIDS'MAKING EVERY HIT COUNT, EBRORRLES BALL CHARACTERIZED HOME TEAM PLAY»Playing under artificial light for the first time and before a record .crowd, the Brainerd ciyt team last night held the highly touted House of David scoreless while they chased home six runs from as many hits.Richmond, who. went the entire route, never played better ball in his life and permitted only one hit in each inning for the first five and one in the seventh.The entire team accorded him support that resembled a game of major league caliber.Not only did Richmond strike out seven men but he helped win his own ball game by crossing the plate twice.Uddenberg, playing second, crossed the plate for two runs and made a sacrifice hit that resulted In another run.Nutting and Jarboe tallied the other two counters.The great Grover Alexander, of big league time, started the game for the House of David and before the game was many minutes old i had allowed three men to make the circuit.Blakney, who plays shortstop for the bewhiskered men from Benton Harbor, helped the Brainerd boys by making two errors.Grant and Laufer also received calls to the slab after Alexander had let the Brainerd boys secure a lead that was never once threatened.Two base hits were made by Nut- j ting, Jarboe, Wbeer and Tolies. Three base hit by Emmer. Sacrifice hit by Uddenberg.
