In many cases it wav an alert Detroit pass defense which stopped them cold.While Walker was sparkling on the offense, another Texan, Yale Lary, gleamed brightly on the defense. Lary set up one of the Lions' touchdowns when he intercepted a Giants pass.During the first half, the New York offense failed to get past theDetroit 30-yard line. They reachedthe Detroit 11-yard line in the second half hut were unable toscore.The Giants only score resulted from a fumble by Walker on his own nine-yard line. Cal Robert recovered and four plays later Don Gottlob passed to Dick Christiansen for the score. Frank Gifford converted.Hardy and another reserve quarterback. Tom Dublinski, threw touchdown passes to Qoyce Box. Ollie Cline. Gene Gedman and Byron Bailey all scored on running plays.
