BEARDED TEAM WINS FROM BREWS 5 TO 2HOUSE OF DAVID WINS GAME UNDER EIGHTS; GIRL ATHLETE PITCHES ONE FRAME: DONKEY GAME GETS LAUGHS.Close to 1,500 people turned out Monday evening to see the House of David team play the Burlington Brews. It was like old times with Burlington playing East Troy, to see the stands filled and anoverflow crowd down the base jjlines. It is true that the bearded players won as they pleased from the Brews, which wasn’t like old times at all, for in the old days theWhite Fox team beat the House of David on three successive oeca- ; sions. The final score for the seven jinning game was 5 to 2 in favorof the visitors, with the winning team making their five tallies in the second inning, and the home team making theirs in the seventh. The Babe Pitches. One of the altraetoins was * “Babe” Didrikson, the all-around girl athlete who made a name forherself in the Olympic games a few' years back. The “Babe” pitched the first inning, retiring the side with only four men facing her. Angel, first up, got a life on an error, and was the only man to ^ee first. Incidentally, Babe handled two chances in the field, throw ing her man out at first like a veteran. At bat she didn't get a hit, but she was up there to get om* —what a cut she took at that ball! Hunter finished the game for the Davids.Pugh did the hurling for the Brews, and after retiring the side one, two, three in the fir«=t, got himself in hot water in the second. He walked the first two men. threw a, man out at first, and then gave up two singles. He fanned “Babe” lhdrikson to make it two out. and then Williams, second baseman and leadoff man walloped a home run over the hedge to clear the bases.
