Chiefs' Gardner May Be Called Up By The YankeesBy United Press InternationalHob Gardner's days as a minor leaguer may be numbered.Gardner, who formerly pitched for the New York Mets and now does his hurling for the Syracuse Chiefs of the International League, is expected to be called up next month by the New York Yankees when major league clubs are allowed to expand their rosters to 40 players for the final month of the season.Gardner showed again Wednesday night why the Yankees are high on him when he hurled the first place Chiefs to a 4-3 victory over Richmond. Ron Blomberg slammed a two- run homer for Syracuse and Ralph Garr homered for the Braves.In the only other IL action, Columbus collected 18 hits in ripping Toledo, 10-5. and Tidewater downed Rochester, 7-5.
