Night baseball played under the House of David flood lights drew wonderful crowds wherever they played last year. Practically every minor league ball park in the country is equipped or will be in the near future with flood lights. The huge portable light plant carried by the House of David, which makes night games possible, is an attraction in istelf, in addition to the fact that the House of David is one of the greatest traveling ball clubs in the country. The lighting equipment for the night game here is transported on a fleet of trucks, and when the people see the entire caravan of cars and true* s coming to town they will think a circus has arrived. The power plant itself is carried on a mammoth inclosed truck, and consists of a 100,000 watt generator and a 250 horsepower Sterling gas marine engine, which is cooled by a specially built radiator. This power plant and equipment was designed and built by the leading engineers oi the middle west, and the erecting and tearing down is quite a show. There is only one real portable light plant and tha; is the House of David’s plant, which will be brought here. They have made many improvements of which the most noticeable is elimination of cabs in front of box seats and the absolute quieting of their power plant motor.The “Pepper Game” put on by the House of David players duringthe game is a bit of entertainmentjust about worth hte price of admission by itself. It has often been said that this Pepper Game would make a headliner on the Orpheum circuit. •To arouse interest in the game with the House of David, Brainerd merchants are offering prizes for outstanding feats such as for every home run made and other individual performances.
