Wins the City Title»faSLmktnenote()5V.1I51r:St. James again turned back the Highwood Cardinals in the deciding game for the town championship a Highwood field last Sund*y. final score was 4^1. Two games between the teems have been played md* both have resulted in victories for St. James. The winners proved themselves the superior team in every department of the game.George Yeary, the winning pitcher, pitched great ball. In nine innings he struck out 16 batters, allowed only four hits and permitted but three balls to reach the outfield. The lone Cardinal run was unearned and came as the result of a passed ball. Lindwall pitched a good game for the losers, but he was no match for the nonchalanc soldier boy who talks and pitches like Guy Bush.' Burt Berube picked out a fast ball and knocked it over the center field fence for a home run in the sixth. Berube also produced a single and scored another run to lead the attack;“Richie” O’Conner, now of old Notre Dame, again played at second base for St. James and turned in the star performance of the day, making two spectacular Yunning catches of balls that looked like hits. In addition he scored one run and drove in anothei* with a sacrifice fly.Baruffi’s long triple to center in the second inning and Pete Anderson’s fine catch of Berube’s long drive in the eighth were the best CardinalSunday’s game was St. James’ eleventh victory in the last 12 games played. This good record is rapidly bringing the team recognition aa oneof the best outfits on the north shore.A game between the Highland Park Crescents end St. James will be played at Highwood field next Sunday at. 3 p.m. This game is for the benefit of Richard Roach whose eye was injured while, he was a spectator at an early season game between the two teams.
