Burt Chalks UpKSpeedway WinsrAC a iAmarillo's Don Burt made it clear he intended to return to the top spot in the late model standings as he registered three victories in Southwest Speedway action Sunday night.. Burt, trailing Hereford’s Jim Culpepper by three points and Odessa’s Jon Foster by two entering Sunday's action, won the late-model first heat and semi before triumphing in the main event.Gary Pope, who won the flying twenty race. took, second in the main event with Foster, who claimed the trophy dash win, third and Culpepper fourth.Hereford’s Wayne McCullar. second in the semi-late model standings, gained some ground on pace-setting Tommy Latham by winning the trophy dash and main event. Latham, who won the flying fifteen race, was second in the main event with J. W. McClellan third and Barry Weaver, who won the semi.fourth.Mickey Brown continued to come on strong in his second week of action in the hobby-stock division during the second half of the season, triumphing in four races — the flying ten. the third heat, semi and main event.John Henderson of Borger was second in the main event with Larry Peters, first heat victor, third and Bobby Carter fourth.Bobby Huff, driving the No. 5 car owned by Mike lladdox, crossed the finish line tirst in the hobby stock 'B' main event and also won the trophy dash Bill McLean was second.
