Charles E. Schuh to Attend ConventionFeaturing nationally known authorities on public protection,' on criminal detection and identification, the Fraternal Order of Police national convention will open In Gary, Ind., Sunday and this city will be represented by Chas. E. Schuh of the local lodge of the organization. In addition to the interesting technical and business programs, the officers will have an entire day at, a Century of Progress International Exposition Thursday, Aug. SI, when they will be honor guests at the Fair.Interspersed throughout the program are entertainment features which include double header baseball game (House of David national champions vs. F. O. P. national champions and Pittsburgh Softball champions vs. Interstate F. O. P. champions); a stag party, a fish fry in Gary’s beautiful Marquette Park in the Dunes on Lake Michigan, golfing at six sporty courses,- bathing and boating on the lage together with industrial and auto tours of the Calumet region.The official business program will open next Monday, (Aug. 2$) when Mayor R. O. Johnson, thrice elected mayor of Gary on a liberal platform, and President Ben K. Perry of Gary lodge, will welcome the delegates and Chief Stanley Bucklind of the Gary department will bo introduced. President John B. Foggarty of the national organization will respond. At a luncheon to fcellow, Director Purvis of U. S. Secret Service, Chicago, will be principal speaker.After two business sessions, the annual national banquet will be held Wednesday evening with President H. S. Norton of Gary Commercial Club and Chamber of Commerce as toastmaster. Gov. Paul V. McNutt of Indiana and Senator James J. Davis of Pennsylvania will be the principal speakers.The new Hotel Gary yvlll ho convention headquarters and President Norton has made all delegates and guests honorary members of Gary Commercial club with full privileges of the palatial clubrooms occupying the mezzanine of Hotel Gary.
