The organization is composed of 200 members, including the majority of Burlington's most prominent citizens, both ladies and gentlemen, and is one of the foci of social interest in this city during the spring, summer and fall.A beautiful and well equipped club bouse, erected in 1902 at a cost of $0,000, is o of the attractions of tne place. Lot ed upon probably the highest ground within the city limits, the club house commands a handsome view of the surrounding country, the distant river and the'well kept green which lies about the house. To the rear are excellent tennis courts, which share patronage with the links during the summer.The grounds consist of about fifty-five acres of land, lying in such a way as to make an ideal nine-hole course. The larger part of the links is situated upon the west side of Sunnvside avenue, while the club house and the re* r ainder of the grounds are directly opposite on the east side.Since its formal opening the club house has been enlarged and remodeled to the extent of $1,500, and the bouse alone is now worth easily $10,-000. Saturday evening dinners and informal dancing parties are an established custom during the season. For these events Fischer’s orchestra plays, and some of the pleasantest occasions enjoyed in I his city in recent years have been at these Saturday evening parties. The club maintains a restaurant. with admirable cuisine, presided over by Mrs. Bonner, as stewardess.The club was organized in 1899, the following appearing as incorporators: Hilaries C. Clark, H. W. Chittenden, Tackson K. Garrett, Ruth Carter Sher-ley, Mrs. E. S. Eastman, Harry \V. Perkins, E. W. Danner and Mable G. Millard. Charles C. Clark was first president. The present officers are: F. D. Clary, president; Horace Rand, rice president; H. W. Chittenden, Jns. Vloir and Dr. G. J. Kinney, directors; t. H. Kriechhaurn, secretary, and W. hi. Mauro, treasurer.The Iowa state golf tournaments lave twice been held here, the first ime in 1902, and again 1905.Burlington Boating Association.With its annals full of eventful his-ory as a social and aquatic organiza-lon, the Burlington Boating assoeia-ion stands a pioneer among the clubs )f this city.
