35 Days Harness Racesat Assiniboia DownsWill, the opening of the Assiniboia Downs Raceway 35 night harness racing season only ten days away, the tempo in the racing department is going full speed ahead. Racing Secretary John Mace has arrived from Connaught Park, which closed a successful season on July 31st. He has already opened his office after calling on a number of tracks en route to Winnipeg.Due to the mail strike stall applications have been slow in coming in. However Race Secretary Mace hopes to have some 300 horses on the grounds by opening day. He expects some real competition in the invitational features as well as in the other races, which with their increase in purse distribution should attract a large number of owners to western Canada’s finest harness track.Among the well known stables that arc return-
