Ted Backe won the Bar Harbor Club 1947 Tennis Tournament at the club last week by defeating’ last year’s winner, Amos Eno, in the first round and Alvah Sul-loway, last year’s runner-up, in the finals in straight sets.The ladies’ singles were won by Barbara Neilds, who turned back Mrs. Nancy Dunham, 6-1, 6-3. Miss Neilds had previously won the Seal Harbor tournament.Men’s doubles were won by Fcrd and Brown who, after losing the first two of three sets to Fisher ; and Backe, took the next three in a row for the championship.The Ladies’ doubles were won by Mrs. Allen and Miss Scott, who defeated Mrs. Finletter and MissLittell.The mixed doubles went to Sargent Collier and Mrs. Dunham, who won easily 'over Mr. Neilds and Barbara Neilds.
