Florals to Oppose Alex And BeardsEx-Cub Will Take Mound Against Duffys in Game at Shewbridge Field on Sunday Afternoon.Southtown Nine Has Been JinxHouse of David Team to See Busy Week-end in City; Book Pair of Night Contests.Grover Cleveland Alexander, former mainstay of the Chicago Cubs pitching staff, will bring his famed House of David barnstorming nine of Benton Harbor Into Chicago for Its first 1932 appearance this week with tilts being booked in three different parks in two days.Most important to southtown fans will be the scheduled conflict for Shewbridge field, 74th and Aberdeen sts., with John Duffy's Florals defending the local laurels. Alex, of course, will be on the mound for the Davids.The Duffys were the only Chicago semi-pro team which Alexander’s crew failed to trim last year, the Florals taking three straight games from the bewhlskered gents, who should not be confused with the other House of David team which has been doing a lot of Southtown playing in the past few weeks.Saturday night the House of David will meet the American Giants at the letter's field beneath the flood lights in one of the few Chicago night baseball games this year.Sunday night Alexander and his crew will trek to Logan Square where they will clash with the Chicago Firemen.The Benton Harbor players met the Boston Red Sox a little more, than a week ago and were defeated 2 to 1.At Shewbridge SundayGrover Cleveland Alexander (left) will lead his famous House of David nine against the Duffy Florals aft Shrewbrldge field Sunday afternoon. The ex-Cab barter is shown here with Reggie Harrison, who plays in the infield for the bearded aggregation.Cooneys to Meet American Giants in Double-HeaderEncouraged by their double victory over the House of David traveling aggregation last week at St. Rita field, Buck Weaver’s Cooneys will do a bit of straying from home themselves this Sunday when they will clash in two games with the American Giants at the latter team’s parkat 39th sfc. and Wentworth ave.Stewart and Brosius will be assigned to the mound for the Cooneys and Foster, well-known negro star, will do the hurling for the Giants.Tonight at 6 o'clock the Cooneys will meet another colored aggregation when they play the famed Kansas City Monarchs at the St. Rita ball park.The scores of last week's games with the Benton Harbor nine were 9 to 4 and 9 to 5.
