The big hit of the inning was a uases-! oaded single to center by pinch-hitter Torn Vide-tich.But Brent came on in the third to throtUe Tliomasville thereafter. The pressure was just too much for Gracia Parra, Lexington pitcher who entered the game against Spartanburg in the 13th inning last night. With the score knotted at 6-6, Parrn allowed an infield hit to Bobby Kelly. Two wild pitches later, Kelly was standing on third.Parra, determined not to let the runner steal home, was caught in a balk situation and Kelly came home for the winning Phillie run, 7-6.*CORSAIR CLIPS — Will Hammond, catcher who just joined the team last week, has been wearing the cover off the ball. With his three hits in four trips in last night's second game. Will raised his batting average to .474 on nine hits in 19 al-bals . . .The pressure should be oft Bob Robertson now since he liasshuttered th* two WCL bat marks in home ruiu and runs-batled-in.Robby, lvov/ever, undoubtedly lias his eyes set on 100 rbi's, which Indeed looks good on the statistical chart . . .The Buncos have remaining series with Greenville, Spartanburg, Lexington and Rock Hill. And it looks as though the two games with the Cardinals next week might decide the issue.Footloose and fancy ft'oe, those bottom clubs could be tough. They haven't any, where to go and fit the spolier role perfectly .. ,I like our chances of winning this thing, said skipper Clyde Sukeforth this morning. That was a vital (luubieheader for us last night. Rearing completion at a cost of more than $1 million, is on a 155-acre tractthird turns. Those are the only relatively flat places on tbe track. But once you get into these turns, then the elevation increased and literally slings you down the straightaways. There won’t be any reason to back off the throtUe going into the second and third turns, so this should mean that the speed down the two.straights should be unlimited,” he said. The new course has a trioval home stretch, but even the home and back straightaways are banked from five to eight degrees. The four-lane turns are elevated as high as 28 degrees, so that three to four race cars can go through them abreast at high speed.SOFTBALL RESULTSGETTYSHARDWAREHEATERHEADQUARTERSLay-Away NOW for the Cold Winter Months Ahead!• FREE STOAT: PIPE with any heater bought during Augwi or September!Brick - Lined KING ’0 HEAThi 40 !b., 66 lb., and 75 lb.* LAUNDRY HEATERS with Z-ey«, large «d small size** FRANKLIN HEATERS* FLOOR MATS* DAMPERS* STOVE POLISH* FURNACE CEMENTAnything You Need For Installation!EASY TERMS!• 30-DAY ACCOUNTS• LAY-AWAY• CASHGETTYSHARDWARE CO.
