Take Second Half Crown:Kiwanians Win Pony Honors, Will Meet Firemen in PlayoffsThe West Side Kiwanis Club gave up a two-run edge to SouthConnellsville in the first inning, then bounced back with four in the third and moved from there to a 9-2 win over the Firemen to clinch the second half championship of the Connellsville Pony Baseball League.With Kiwanis winning the second half, a playoff is now in prospect for the overall league championship, involving Kiwanis and South Connellsville, The latter took honors in the first half.The playoff will start Wednes*day evening at the Pony League field, at 6 o’clock, and will be a txrst-of-three games elimination series.Ron Marciante hurled the winfor Kiwanis last night, allowing just four hits and striking out 11 batters. He walked two. The four hits Marciante allowed were all singles, with Ron Mon-gell having a pair, and Bob Brown and Cole one each.Vince Tedesco led the winners’ 12-hit asault v/ith a pair of doubles.
