FANS MAY SELECT PLAYERS FOR BIG ALL STAR BATTLEORIGINAL HOUSE OF DAVID CLUB TO PLAY HERE ON SEPTEMBER 8THAn All star aggregation of baseball player*, picked from the leading Freeport teams, will appear against the original House of David team at Taylor park Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8. It is the idea of the local management to get the best players from each team to take part in this game and hence fans may vote for their choice of players. Those interested may drop a card or letter to the Journal-Standard, Sports Department, and this department, together with managers of the various teams will then select the team, about fifteen players to be chosen. In this manner the fans will have the say as to which players should perform in thft* game. ' v - - .Tpe game has bo?n arranged with the team which is the original aggregation to represent the Benton Harbor, Mich., cult. Although the game is three woeks away the management would like to hear from the fans as soon a* posible.The visitors will have in their lineup Pitcher Tally, who haa be-en with the club seventeen years artd one of the originators of the famous '‘pepper game,” which the players exhibit between ^ innings. “Doc appears to be having one of the best seasons of his career. Tucker, first baseman, is counted one of the lending players in his position and is well known to local fans. Atwell, shortstop, is a former Western League player, and wa* with San Francisco, Pacific Coast league, last spring. Hanson, second baseman, played with Des Moines in the Western League, and was scouted by major league representatives. There are likewise many other stars.Have Fine RecordTo date the team has won 124 find lost 17 games. On May 27 they defeated St. Joseph’s, Western League club, 10 to 1. On June 15 they defeated Omaha, of the same league, 9 to 8. The club has played in 16 stales and Canada up to the present time. Now is the time for 1 the fans to select their favorites.
