House of David Team to Play Twins Here Aug. 25Original Israelite, Long-Haired Club Has Won More Than 100 Games In Each Of Past Six Years; Boasts Several In Original LineupThe Israelite House of David basebal lteam of Benton Harbor, Mich., the original world’s champion traveling club reorganized byMary Purnell, will meet the Fargo-Moorhead Twins in Moorhead league park Saturday, August 25, it was announced today by the Twins’ management.This is not a “fake” House of David team, the management pointed out, but is the same organization that has developed such stars as “Doc” Tally, Fleming, Tucker and Atwell, all familiar to fans who have seen the House of David club perform.The visiting team has won morethan 100 games in each of the past six years. Ih 1931 they won 100 and lost 38; 1932, won 116 and lost 41; 1833, won 112 and lost 37.In addition to their ability as ball players the long-haired boys stage a red hot pepper game in front of the grandstand, doing strange things with the ball.John R. Tucker is manager of the club and holds down first base position. J. L. Tally, the club secretary, is a pitcher and also the Babe Ruth” of the team. Others in the lineup include: Hanson, 2b; Hutson, If; Wycoff, rf; Clift, cf; Atwell, ss; Anderson, 3b; Fleming, c, and Brady, Nuser and Speisman, pitchers.
