SUCCESSTuesday, the date of the citizen celebrationy dawned beautifully and was an ideal one for the sports that took place. We will say right here that everything, so 1 ar as the management on the part of the citizens was concerned, was a pronounced success. The streets were alive with people before 10 o'clock and during the production of some excellent music by the Citizens’ Band of Rochester the start was made in the 5-mile bicycle race..The starters were Ed Kreamer, W. Diyis and Win. Peters. In just ! 18$ minutes Peters dashed across j the-line and was declared the win-j ner. He was followed one minute : later by Kreamer, who received ! second money and still later by Davis who received third. Five boys under 14 years were then mounted for their bicvcle race in which firstJ * *j money was won by Clinton Stahl of | Rochester, second by Roy Blausser ; and third by Walter Mott. Six . lads were then lined up for a 100-yard foot race which was won by Otto Blausser. J. W. Branthoffer M. I. Barnett and J. H. Cox then started in-the 100-yard foot race for men over 50 years, which was won by Mr. Cox. The exhibition of graceful bicycle riding by the ladies was not given, owing, no doubt, to an over-abundance of modesty. Someone thereby lost $3.00, and the finance committee credited their account accordingly.
