Jirnmy Ripple of Belmont, outfielder on.the Generals roster for the past twp seasons, left Pittsburgh last nijcht jfor Cincinnati where he will io»n the Cincinnati Reds. Arrangements with the Reds to give the outfielder a tryout were made last week by Manager Dick Guy of the Greens-burg club.Ripple is rated as the best outfielder ever appearing on the roster of the local club. His sensational catches this season have proved a big feature in many contests. He also is a . consistent hitter..With Ripple joining Ube Red's two members of this year's baseba’t club will have been given opportunities totost their ability in the majors. ’ Paul Ufema, hurling ace of the locftl club, has been with the Pittsburgh Pirates for several weeks. Since joining the Bucs he has pitched two exhibition games and made fine showings, in each.Last/season Dick Guy was able to get three players a chance to show thpir ware1? in fast company. Glenn Ropp, pitcher, and Buck Wallace shortstop, went to Brooklyn. Ropp was later farmed to Macon. Ga.. while Wallace went into the Eastern League, later returning here. Frank Packard, third baseman, was given a trial with the Pirates, taken south with Buffn'o in the spring and laic-r signed with* the Cumberland Colts whcie he has been playing sensational hall at shorlstop.
