John and Shayne BeiMid land girlscap ture stateSWEETWATER - Midland Gold swept two games from the Snyd er All-Stars in the finals of the Minor Miss Softball America State Tourney Sunday afternoo n.Midland had lost to Dallas, 14-5, in th e opening round, but came ba ck to whip Abilene 17-5 and then nudged Dallas, 4-3 and then whi pped Snyder 21-1 and 17-5 to win t he coveted state crown.With i:he state championship by the Gold team, that gives the city of Midland three state championships. The Midland Major nnd Seniors teams also won stat e titles last week.Janice* Littlefield was the winning pitcher for Midland in the first game while Robin Bailey was the winner in the second ond deciding game.Susanne McGaha ripped two1 triples and a home run for the Tall Cit;y team in the finals.Miss Littlefield and Tina DeLong of Midland, were named to the al.l-tourney team.Volley ball tryouts setfor Midland LeeAll Lee High' School sophomore girls interested in trying out for the 1976 Rebel volleyball team will need to come by the girls gym Wednesday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.Lee coach Linda Weikel will give out all deta ils at the meeting.
