Being calm; the tremendous5 ecboesTrom*: the mountains, during tlie well conducted mock~l Engagement, was atfonifhing beyond meafure. The Bvat Race was alfo very fine. The great prize-was won by Mr. Purdie’s Hawke, the feconi by his- good vHTel called the Faul Jones, and'the third by the Nonuay, belonging to. Meflrs. Sewell acd Co. The Man-race, within the margin*of the Lake, was, with much ftruggle and fport, won by Mr..Bell; and the five different races, run on theKegatta-chy, and the day following, by a fine, ffiew of well-made country-lafles,. afforded ex-; cellent diverfion. No one was lofer at lafl, each having fairly won her prize.. About four* in. the, afternoon, this great company partook of an ex-' cellent dinner at the Bong Room, and fhortly afterr ' the Iplendid Ball was opened *by the mod refpecl-. able company which ever graced the town of Kefwick 5 * who fpent the night raoft agreeably K having the beft band of mafic, and the grandcfh fireworks.played ofP^ which were ever known in this place.. And here they raifed a large fubferip-tian for the next year’s Regatta, and appointed-Wilfrid Lawson, Efq.
