Indiana X-Country Prospects PromisingWith cross country practice at Indiana High School already underway, the prognosis is for another fine season for the Little Indians of coach Jim Irwin.Irwin has four of last year’s top five runners back this year to build a nucleus for his squad. They are seniors Jim Laughlin and Dick Fiscus and sophomores Mark Pellman and Steve Koaczkowski,Other Indiana harriers competing for top spots this year are seniors Jack McGregor, Scott Stiles and Jeff Waldo, juniors Bill Buggey and Paul Woods, sophomores John Nania, Bill Laughlin, Ed Stephens and Jon Chapman, and lllit freshman Mike Walker.snwayof the season, a two-run, two-nut chnt tnuphpri nff thp Van-A name to look for in the future, according to coach Irwin, Is Todd Pellman, a seventh-grader who has been running with the team since the beginning of the practice sessions and has been doing a fine job.The Little Indians were 9-3 last year in the Central Western Cross Country Conference, finishing fourth.At the District meet at State College, the team placed third behind State College and Penn Highlands.Lost from the team were Rick Seafedi, one of the best long distance runners in the County last year, Randy Treese, Wayne Kimmel and Geoff Knowlton.“The prospects look very promising for a successful season,” Irwin states.The Little Indians’ first meet is at home against Johnstown Vo-Tech on Friday, Sept. 7. Co-captains for this year’s team are Jim Laughlin and Dick Fiscus.
