this connection.WITH HIS FAMILY.Sandy Ferguson, His Wife and Moth-er-in-Law Make Up and are Summering at Gloucester.GLOUCESTER, Aug 25-Sandy Ferguson, the heavyweight pugilist, is spending* a part of the heated term with his family in this city. This stereotyped form of summer resort personal may have an interest to those who follow the fortunes of the knights of flstiana in general and Mr Ferguson in particular. It will be remembered that severalmonths ago Sandy's handsome wife, born Miss Alice Mason, of this town, left Sandy’s bed and board in Chelsea, and with lr infant proceeded to Gloucester to take up her residence with her mother on Wharf st. It was alleged that Sandy neglected his wife of something more than a year and their infant, and Mrs Mason went to Chelsea and brought her daughter home. Some weeks after this Sandy, in company with a friend, came to the Mason house at night while his wife was absent and, overpowering Mrs Mason and her son, Sandy secured the baby, which he bore off up the street. As luck Would have it, he met Mrs Ferguson, his wife, on the way home. She immediately closed in on him, and, with the assistance of some women neighbors who assisted, recaptured tin* baby, which she bore to her home. The affair created a mild sensotion among the residents of the Duncan-st quarter. At the time public opinion was divided, although the consensus was that Sandy was not so much to blame as his mother-in-law. It was averred that Sandy spent practically all he earned down here before his marriage, and was not so bad a fellow for a, pugilist., Mrs Mason declared that if her daughter went to live with the Chelsea strong boy again, she might never again darken' her doors, and Mrs Ferguson made inquiries for a good divorce lawyer, and hinted legal proceedings for a separation. But all that is past and gone. The white dove of peace hovers over the Mason homestead where Sandy has rejoined his wife, and where he enjoysher society and that of the baby unmolested. They are frequently seen together taking a stroW about town and apparently mama Mason is reconciled.Sandy, while here several years ago for a bount with a local pugilist, met Miss Mason, now his wife, and since that time has lived alternately between this place and Chelsea.
