To MemorializeWee Dickie Kerrr-r-ien-Wee Dickie Kerr, the little man. who stood so tall in baseball’s most difficult hour, will be itiemoralized in a ceremony prior to the Oldtimcrs’ Game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.A life-size statue of Kerr has been sculptured and will be unveiled and dedicated Saturday night by Stan Musial, Dick Peebles, Clark Nealon, Bob Rule and members of the Old-timers' lineups.Kerr became famous in 1918 when he refused . bribes by gamblers during the “Black Sox Scandal” and managed to win two games in that year’s world series despite the fact fH| that the other eight players in the lineup were deliberately trying to lose the game.... t.. .. . the cooperation of ClarkWee Dickie passed away onMay 4, 1963, at the age of 69,and Bob Rule, then sports edi-D1CKIE KERRndtic _and Dick Peeble sbegan paign to collect moneyator of the Houston Press, with statue to memoralizeJo a Ion cam-for a Kerr.
