The House of David team believed they could utilize the pitching services of one Grover Cleve-I land Alexander, ex-big-leaguer. i The idea was that even if slightly unsteady on the pitcher’s plate, he could conceal his delivery behind i lis whiskers until it suddenly appeared before the batter with a most shocking curve on it—the result, no doubt, of its wide departurefrom the straight and narrow path.Another idea was that no opposing batter could tell through the whiskers whether Alexander or I some other member of the House of j David was pitching to him. This is bound to be very disconcerting, as a major league pitch would be past the batter by the time he was thinking about smacking the bush league offering. And if a pitcher in theHouse of David isn’t a Bush Leaguer, who is?
