128,000 Sport Fans Watched Shewbridge Field BattlesThe hotbed of organized girls’ softball could very well be located at Shewbridge field. 74th and Aberdeen sts., which happens to be the home grounds of the Garden City Brewers, winners of their second constitutive Chicago Girls Major league championship, and the mythical crown of Illinois.Attendance figures released this week by the Shewbridge field management show that close to 128,000 softball fans have passed through the turnstiles up to and including last Sunday.Split Two Games.iihst week end two of the largest crowds this season saw the Brewers split a two-game series with the Tom Boys of St. Louis. The Missourians took the opener, 6 to 2. before a paid attendance of 8.027, and Sunday night the Brewers won the finale. 4 to 0. behind the six-hit pitching of Catherine Fellmeth as 3,123 paid fans looked on.Saturday night the Tom Boys moved out to a four-run advantage before the Brewers were able to score.
