Southtown’sSemi-pros inDual Bills]Buck Weaver’s Cooneys to Meet House of David atSt. Rita Field Again inTwo Gaines.Florals to PlayNegro All-StarsDuffys May Take Second Place if Tliey Win Both Ends of Double-Header at Shewbridge Field.Southtown’s two semi-pro baseball teams will continue their double-header policy again this Sunday against two of the best teams in the middle-west.In keeping with the business conditions prevalent . throughout the summer both the Duffy Floral* and Buck Weaver’s Cooneys have been offering weekly bargain-bills to South-side fans.Sunday will see the Cooneys in action against the famous bearded nine of South Bend, Ind., the House of David team.Third Time,This latter aggregation has' been doing a lot of semi-pro campaigning in the Chicago area this season and this week will mark its third appearance in Southtown during the present season.The Cooneys are looking toward a double victory and fans of the St. Rita field team are expected to number several thousand when the two nines take the field.That siege of double-headers goes on for the Duffy Florals.The next foe of the Southtown Wieconsin-IUinois league entry will be the fast Colored All-Stars and the twin-blll will be staged Sunday at Shewbridge field, 74th and Aberdeen sis., starting at 1:30 p.m.In the All-Stars, the Duffys will be meeting the strongest colored aggregation in the middle-west and one of the most powerful in the entire country.Jimmy Hutton’s club is composed almost entirely of former Negro National league stars, including Harney, Sweatt, Bray, Powell and others.Johnson.Harney, at one time the Walter Johnson of the Negro League when with the world’s-colored-champion American Giants, still retains most of his wizardry on the mound.Jones and Curry are the All-Stars’ other pitching reliables.The Florals, by virtue of seven victories in their last ten games, are still in the first division of the league and are so close to second place that a double victory for them Sunday might even land them the runner-up spot to the Mills.For that reason, Johnny Brice, who scored a 10 to 0 shutout over the second place Milwaukee Red Sox lastSunday, and Joe Malcy are beingdepended on to be.in top form when they take the hill against Hutton’s crew.
