VANCOUVER — The World Hockey Association will not sign any more players, professionals or amateurs, until after a meeting with the federal government and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, league president Gary Davidson said Friday. “I don’t accept the statement that we aren’t allowed to sign those players,” he said. “ ‘Under-age junior’ is NHL terminology.” Cleveland Crusaders of the WHA signed 18-year-old Tom Edur of the Toronto Marlies earlier this week. In Belleville, Ont., Jack Devine, president of the CAHA warned that a war between the WHA and the NHL for juniors could destroy amateur hockey in Canada.
