Yesterday evening the long depending battle between Churls Maddox the Ass Driver; and Tobby Welch the Coal Porter, took place on Tot-h'll Downs. The first was seconded by Joe Ward, the other by Jem. Bentley. The contest continued but nine minutes. There were five rounds well contested'; on the third, Maddox cut the left eye of Welch -open in a most shocking manner; the fifth, by a knock-down blow on the part of Maddox, determined the contest.Maddox was immediately raised upon the shoulders of his friends, and carried in triumph among the speftators; There were above 5000 present on the occasion.
