Hairfield Wins South Boston s Feature Race*SOUTH B 0 S T ON—TedHairfield of Richmond led Lhe entire race and look home S725.00 for his winning effort in lhe South Boston Speedway 100-lap feature Saturday night.Lennie Pond made a gallant effort to get past Hairfield in the final laps, but had to settle for second place - a few feet behind Hairfield.On Pond's bumper was Jimmy Hensley who finished third with Sonny Hutchins fourth and Bill Dennis fifth.Junior Midkiff won t h e Limited Sportsman main event. Dick Purdue ran second. David King third, Jackie Baldwinfourth and Wyley Metis fifth.Hairfield also won the firstheat in the Late ModelSportsman division and Jimmy Hensley the second heat. Junior Midkiff was the winner in the first heat for the Limited Sportsman cars with Dick Purdue winning the second heat.C. C. Chandler, Speedway Promoter, announced racing again at the South Boston Speedway Saturday night.There will be a 50-lap feature evem for the Late ModelSportsman cars and a 20-lapfeature event for the Limited : Sportsman division plus four 10 lap heats.
