The game originated in Texas where the little desert canaries vere once plentiful. The new games is in its second season and has met with great enthusiasm in southern states.Even the House of David baseball team carries a pack of donkeys to play opponents in this fashion as well as in orthodox baseball style.Proceeds of the game next Tuesday night will go to help defray the expenses of th? team winning city champion at the state soft ball tournament. The Kitchen Kooks Kowboys and Tribune Tail Twisters will be the campeting teams, iAccording to the rules of the game all players except the pitcher, catcher and batter are mounted on the hurricane decks of the little' burros and when the batter gets a hit he must mount his steed and I ride to first, and so on around the', bases providing he and the animal can agree. Fielders must ride to within one step of the ball and the infielders must remount before delivering the ball to another player. There are no strike-outs or walks and the five-lnnlng contest requires about an hour and a half of play.The mule team which will come here is one of the origiral ones and the burros are said to know more about the game than most of the ^players. Although they are trained for their positions the nature of the beast will crop out at various Intervals. The donkey is a plodding, self-centerd animal that cares little for praise or punishment and he Is apt to fail his master at the most critical moment in the game. He may decide to lie ^own and rest between bases or he may wander ofT toward the tempting grass of the outfield. The various antics of the players and animals in the manipulations of the game keep the crowd in an uproar of laughter from the start to the finish of the contest. This is decidedly not agame of skill or science but is more dependent on the disposition and inclinations of the donkeys.
