Johnny Newman was the victorious winner of the t rophy dash for the third consecutive week at the Lea County Speed Bowl, Saturday night, Jimmy Grogan won the modified stock trophy, with both winner receiving their trophies fromthe pretty trophy girl, Miss Judy Hamilton.Newman also won first place in the stock first heat when all of the competing cars were disqualified forcompletely leaving the track. The modified stock first heatrace was won by Harvey Winn with Grogan second and KenDean third.Don Gray won the firstplace in the stock semi-mainwith J. R. Slentz of Denver City second and Sammy Strickland third. Winn took first place in the modified stock semi-main with Don Ritchey second and Jack Watkins third.Jack Wheeler of Denver City won first place in the stock main with Dicky Winnsecond and Newman third. Bill Balles won a hard race in the modified stock mainwith Winn second and DonRitchey third.Taking the lead position in the eighth lap of the Powder Puff Derby, Sandi Gray drove to victory with Janice Tate second and Pauline LeSpade third.
