CUNNINGHAM WINS EASILY IN GERMANYBERLIN, Aug:, 7.—(I.N.S.)—Trackenthusiasts who saw Glenn Cunningham defeat Erik Ny of Sweden and Dr. Otto Peltzer in a 3,000meter race here yesterday were convinced today the Kansas star could have shattered the world’s record of 2:23.6, if he had been forced to exert himself. As it was, he came within one second of the record.The event was part of an international meet between America's touring athletes and a group of stars from Germany, Sweden and Argentina. Tlje Americans capturedeight of the nine nine events in which they participated, losing only in the 3,000 meters when Joe Me -Cluskey of New York again was beaten by Max Syring, of Germany.
