They had apparently ftaid up all night in anticipation of the glorious victory ( ?) to be achieved by them on the morrow, and losing the sleep made them drowsy and indifferent. With but one or two exceptions this seemed to be the case, and was so sized up” by the crowd of two or three hundred spectators. The batteries were Bob Murdoch and Jimmy Briggs for the “Eagles,” and Elijah Mathews and Frank Anderson for the “Black Diamonds.” The latter, however, changing once or twice. In regard to batteries honors were equal. The score at the finish stood 25 to 11 in favor of the “Eagles.” Mike Hoyt umpired the game and gave perfect satisfaction.NOTES.“Mossy” didn’t show up.Jimmy McBride did better yesterday.Ed. Georgia is a good first baseman.Mike Hoyt makes a splendid umpire.Will Gore played first, base in great shape.Art. Dowdy is good ball player and a clever boy.Miller Wiles is a good batter, but played in hard luck.Johuny Lyons got under an elegant fly in center field.“Cully” hit Murdoch for a home run and brought in two men.Bert Rogers plays ball to win. He works hard from begining to end.“Sugar’s” center fielder was no earthly good. He is too slow to catch the mumps.It was fun when Louden and Briggs had “Sugar” between third base and the home plate.“Sugar” the next time you have a game “on” you should go around the night before and put your boys to bed.Big Sam Robinson, the Ray House porter, knocked a home run in the 5th inning and broke a bat in two inthe 6th, after which he didn’t touch the ball.
