Congregational, Methodist win Y tourney gamesCongregational and Methodist opened the 1969 YMCA Church League double elimination tournament with wins Monday evening, with Congregational defeating Central Reformed 9-4, while the Methodist downed FFA 29-4.Leading the Congregational ' attack was Steve Allspach with i two singles, Kevin Stoos with a . homer and single, Jerry Stout, i Bob DeCook, Van Wyk and Stan Allspach with a hit each.For Central Reformed, T. Goemaat had three hits including a triple, Klaaren had two hits while Bokhoven, Rempe, Van Rheenen, Martin, Vande Wall and Goemaat had a hit each.Pacing the 30 hit Methodist attack was Bob LaMotte with four singles, Neil Orthner with four singles, Bob Osborne with three home runs and a single,, Gary Alexander with two homers and a single, Paul LaMotte three singles, Larry Gor-dy two homers and Bob Mc-Caulley two singles.For FFA, Tom Johnson, H. Denburger, D. Scott and D. Veldhuizen had a hit each.Tuesday night games have Friends playing First Christian Reformed at 7:30 and St. Mary’s playing Congregationalat 9:00.
